DJK Coating Solutions is headed by
Daniel J. Kester, Ph.D. Dr. Kester has worked in the field of thin
film coatings for over 20 years and has extensive experience in creating
innovative, effective and successful solutions to production, processing,
and R&D problems of thin film coatings.
Dr. Kester received his Ph.D. at Penn
State University where he was a member of the research group that first
introduced diamond coatings into the U.S. With over 15 years of industry
experience in the area of hard coatings and over 20 published scientific
papers, he brings a wide area of expertise including:
Production of DLC and diamond
coatings. Dr. Kester worked on the development and in the
production of some of the most commonly used DLC coatings available
in both the U.S. and worldwide. He helped bring these coatings into
the marketplace and helped solve many of the initial hurtles encountered
in making these coatings available.
Wear resistant coatings.
Dr. Kester has experience in a wide range of applications of wear
resistant coatings. In addition to diamond and DLC coatings, he can
advise on the use and applicability of TiN and the other nitride coatings
for applications such as plastic injection molding, metal forming,
and other high wear areas.
Tribology. Dr. Kester
has expert knowledge in the area of thin film tribology, and in methods
of testing the tribological performance of coatings.
Quality certification.
Dr. Kester has been responsible for successfully obtaining ISO certification
for coating production processes.
